Assistant Professor and Chief

Dr. Collins completed her medical school, pediatric residency training and chief residency at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. After finishing her training, Dr. Collins joined a private practice pediatric group in Davidsonville, Maryland. Because of her interest in more complex and more acutely ill children, she elected to leave private practice and join the pediatric hospital medicine group at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. Dr. Collins then joined the faculty at the University of Florida in October of 2006. In the Fall of 2009 Dr. Collins was appointed as the Chief of the new division of pediatric hospital medicine. Her primary clinical interests are in the care of the acutely ill child, patient and family centered care, and patient safety. Additionally, she has a research interest in Pompe disease and medical education.
