Welcome from the Program Director

Program Director
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the University of Florida Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship! We are thrilled to be recruiting our inaugural fellow for our two-year fellowship program. With one fellow per year, our program is designed to provide individualized mentorship and a rich training experience that prepares graduates to become leaders in the field of Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
At UF, our division is a close-knit, collaborative group of pediatric hospitalists dedicated to excellence in clinical care, medical education, advocacy, and scholarly work. As a fellow, you will have the opportunity to work closely with faculty who are committed to your growth and success. Our program emphasizes comprehensive clinical training, exposure to diverse patient populations, and the development of skills in quality improvement, advocacy, and academic scholarship.
We are excited to help train the next generation of pediatric hospitalists—physicians who will advance the field while providing exceptional care to children and families. We look forward to welcoming you to Gainesville and to our fellowship family!
Warmly,
Sarah Marsicek, MD, FAAP

Mission
The mission of the University of Florida Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship is to foster a safe and dynamic learning environment which allows fellows to become autonomously practicing clinicians who deliver high value, cost-effective, evidence-based, and quality care to hospitalized children and their families, who serve as leaders of inter-professional health care teams, and who continue to advance the future of pediatric hospital medicine.
Program Aims:
- Enhance the expertise of clinicians in the care of hospitalized children across the spectrum of medical acuity and complexity.
- Promote the practice of evidence-based, high-value, patient- and family-centered care.
- Provide a flexible curriculum that allows fellows to tailor their training and experiences to their clinical and academic goals and interests.
- To develop an area of specialized skills in one of four domains: clinical research, advocacy, quality improvement, or medical education.
